CONFIRMATION HAS ARRIVED: Audi in Formula 1 in 2026!

The German car manufacturer Audi will make its debut in Formula 1 in 2026 as an engine manufacturer, the company’s CEO Markus Diesmann announced today in Spa Francorchamps.

With the new rules, it is the right time to get involved – said Diesmann at the press conference.

Audi will develop its hybrid engine in Neuburg an der Donau, Bavaria, and will partner with one of the Formula 1 teams.

That partnership, which must be announced by the end of the year, could, according to specialized media, be concluded with Sauber, which currently competes under the name Alfa Romeo, and is powered by Ferrari.

The announcement comes ten days after the FIA approved new engine regulations for Formula 1 cars for 2026.

The engines, which are already hybrid since 2014, will from that date have an increase in the use of electricity and will also use 100 percent sustainable fuel.

It is also expected that Audi will be joined by Porsche in partnership with Red Bull in 2026.
