Tarxien Rainbows FC have confirmed that Brazilian pair Bruno Da Cruz and Jonata Bastos have left the club by mutual agreement. The south side expressed gratitude to both players for their professionalism and service, and wished them well in their future careers, while also signalling that reinforcements are imminent as the club seeks to maintain balance and depth for the coming fixtures.
According to the Tarxien committee, the two Brazilians did not meet expectations for different reasons across the opening phase of the campaign. Jonata Bastos did not manage to leave a sustained impact on the squad despite opportunities to stake his claim. In contrast, a sequence of injuries for Bruno Da Cruz restricted his availability and rhythm after injuring himself in the derby against Hibernians, limiting his chances to demonstrate his worth with the south side. With results and consistency at a premium, both parties agreed that a clean break was the most practical path forward.
The departures open up two attacking slots, which Tarxien intend to fill from the free agent market in the coming days. The priority is to recruit players who can contribute immediately in the final third and in creative phases of play, while preserving dressing room harmony and the tactical identity that the coaching staff is building.
Bastos arrives in the free agent pool as a centre forward with experience in Malta and abroad, noted for his physical presence and aerial ability. Da Cruz is an attacking midfielder who can also operate on the right wing after an injury-affected spell.
Tarxien Rainbows reiterated their thanks to both players for their commitment during their time at the club. Further updates will follow once medicals and registrations are completed for the incoming free agent signings, with the club focused on staying competitive and ready for the next round of fixtures.
