On Friday, Sliema Wanderers secured their first victory in the 360Sports Malta Premier League Closing Round with an emphatic 4-0 win over Naxxar Lions at the National Stadium. This marked Naxxar’s second consecutive 0-4 league defeat, following last week’s loss to Floriana.
Sliema opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Vito Plut, who controlled a cross and fired a rising shot past goalkeeper Matthias Debono. Early in the second half, new signing Maksym Pryadun extended the lead after a precise through ball from Plut.
Naxxar’s hopes diminished further when Geoffrey Acheampong was sent off in the 61st minute for a second yellow card. Just four minutes later, Neil Frendo capitalized on a Mohamed Awad freekick to make it 3-0. Myles Beerman sealed the victory with a solo effort and a low diagonal strike in the 78th minute.
