Naxxar Lions won the Northern Derby after beating Mosta 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. It was Winston Muscat’s first match in charge of Naxxar, and it could not have gone better.
Mosta took the lead in the 32nd minute through Giancarlo Goncalves, but Naxxar equalised before half-time thanks to Gabriel Costa Goncalves.
In the second half, Mosta went ahead again in the 56th minute with a goal by Charles Samson. Naxxar pushed forward and Gabriel Costa Goncalves scored again in the 89th minute to level the score.
Naxxar were not happy with a draw, and in added time Joao Vitor Moura Cardoso scored the winner to give Naxxar a 3-2 victory.
This win puts Naxxar 3 points ahead of Tarxien who are bottom and 3 behind Mosta in the YoHealth Malta Premier Bottom 6 table.
