Sunday’s big match on matchday 2 of the YoHealth Malta Premier between Ħamrun Spartans and Valletta ended in a 1-1 draw, which was probably a fair result overall.
The game started at a fast pace, just as expected and the 12th minute, Valletta took the lead when from a free-kick, Thaylor passed the ball to Yuri Messias, who fired a powerful shot from long range that beat goalkeeper Bonello.
Ħamrun Spartans equalised in the 34th minute after a mistake in Valletta’s defence. Merlin Hazdi picked up the loose ball and scored with a low shot past Maringa.
The second half was slower, with fewer chances for both sides. However, Valletta had a great opportunity to win it right at the end, but Henry Bonello made a brilliant save from close range to make sure Ħamrun held on for a point.
After this result, both teams are still looking for their first win with Valetta’s next match will be against Marsaxlokk while Ħamrun face Mosta in matchday 3, after the international break.
