Only a day after being awarded Coach of the Month for April, Jacques Scerri has confirmed that he will no longer be the coach of Tarxien Rainbows FC.
The news comes only days after the Rainbows were relegated from the YoHealth Malta Premier following their 2-1 defeat against Żabbar St Patrick FC in the relegation decider.
In a statement published on social media, Scerri announced the end of his almost four-year spell at the club, reflecting emotionally on a period filled with both achievements and difficult moments.

Scerri described the journey as one marked by determination and resilience, highlighting Tarxien’s promotion to the Premier League against the odds, their run to the semi-finals of the Malta FA Jubilee Cup, and the remarkable late-season fight to avoid relegation.
Despite eventually falling short, Tarxien managed to force a relegation decider after putting together an impressive run of seven consecutive matches without defeat during the final stages of the campaign.
The outgoing coach thanked his technical staff, players, club officials and supporters for their backing throughout his tenure.
Special mention was given to assistants Matthew Tabone and Renald Bugeja, whom he praised for pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits, alongside the rest of the technical team, including Godwin Gatt, Roderick Agius, David Mangion, Willgon Baldacchino and Dillon Mercieca.
Scerri also expressed gratitude towards club president Tony Cassar, members of the committee and his family for their constant support throughout the highs and lows of his period in charge.
He concluded his message by thanking all Tarxien supporters for standing behind the club even during the most difficult moments of the season.
Scerri’s departure now opens a new chapter for Tarxien Rainbows as the club prepares for life in the Challenge League following a difficult campaign in the top flight.
