Ħamrun Spartans climbed to the top of the 360Sports Malta Premier League Closing Round Top Six after a composed 2-0 victory over Mosta, thanks to first-half goals from Joseph Mbong and Raphael Lopes Silva.

Despite Mosta’s promising start and a few early threats from Giancarlo Goncalves and Prince Afriyie, it was Ħamrun who made the breakthrough. In the 11th minute, Mbong cut in from the right and fired a superb strike into the top corner, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

Ħamrun continued to dominate and nearly doubled their lead through Roko Prsa and Ognjen Bjelicic, the latter rattling the bar with a powerful header. The second goal came just before the break, as Lopes Silva capitalized on a well-taken corner to head home and put the Spartans in firm control.

The second half saw Mosta introduce fresh legs in attack, but they struggled to break down Ħamrun’s organized defense. The Spartans, despite injuries to Sven Xerri and Emerson Marcelina, managed the game well and held on comfortably for all three points.

With this win, Winston Muscat’s side now leads the Top Six standings, putting pressure on rivals Floriana and Marsaxlokk in the race for the league title. Three games remain, and Ħamrun are firmly in the driving seat.
