Ħamrun Spartans beat Birkirkara 3-0 to record their third win against the Stripes this season.
Ħamrun took the lead early in the match. In the 7th minute, Mouad El Fanis saw his shot hit the post, but the ball fell kindly to Matthew Guillaumier, who calmly slotted it into the net to make it 1-0.
Birkirkara tried to react and looked for the equaliser, but Ħamrun’s defence remained solid and dealt well with the pressure.
In the 75th minute, the Spartans doubled their lead. Joseph Mbong controlled the ball brilliantly before finishing with a powerful shot that gave Birkirkara goalkeeper Martinez no chance.
Just eight minutes later, Mbong scored again from the penalty spot after Francisco Lopez fouled Mouad El Fanis inside the box.
With this victory, Ħamrun move up to 22 points in the table and reduce the gap to league leaders Floriana back to just two points.
