To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Inter Club Gozo, a series of events were held with special guests Maicon Douglas Sisenando – the legendary former Inter player who was part of the 2009–2010 treble-winning squad – and Stefania Marchionna, Inter’s 2021 official ambassador (“la madrina dell’Inter”).
The main event was a Gala Dinner on Saturday, 10th May 2025, at the Grand Hotel in Mġarr, Gozo. Earlier that day, Maicon led a special training session for Gozitan Under-13 children at the Gozo Stadium, organised in full collaboration with the Gozo Youth FA. Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri attended the training and exchanged commemorative gifts with Maicon.
Maicon also received a warm welcome during his visits to both Inter Club Gozo and Inter Club Malta. Alongside Marchionna, he visited several local sites including the Ta’ Pinu National Sanctuary, where they were greeted by Rector Fr Gerard Buhagiar. They also enjoyed a boat trip and visits to Mdina and Valletta.
During the Gala Dinner – open to all supporters – Inter Club Gozo President Joe Bajada delivered a speech, thanking everyone for attending and expressing great pride in hosting Maicon and Stefania for the club’s tenth anniversary. He highlighted that the celebrations were not only about marking the club’s milestone but also sharing the excitement of Inter’s upcoming Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Bajada reflected on the club’s founding, noting that the official opening took place on 13th September 2015, ahead of the Serie A Milan derby, which Inter won 1-0. He explained how years of preparation and correspondence finally led to the club being accepted as a full member of the Centro Coordinamento Inter Club. He also mentioned how the club fulfilled a long-felt need among Gozitan Inter fans to have a local space to gather and watch matches together. He gave special thanks to the Kercem Festival Arrangements Committee for offering the club a place to start meeting.
Bajada ended his message by thanking all guests for making the event such a joyful and memorable evening. Maicon and Marchionna expressed how impressed they were with the high standard of organisation and the heartfelt welcome they received.
Gratitude was extended to all sponsors, including Visit Gozo, Visit Malta, Gozo Youth FA, Grand Hotel, Gozo Frank Travel, and others who contributed spot prizes for the evening’s lottery. Bajada also thanked his committee and everyone who helped organise and support this first-ever visit to the Maltese Islands by Maicon and Stefania, making the occasion a true success.
