Swieqi United are set to make their debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League after being drawn in Group 2 of the qualifying round, which will be hosted in Slovakia.
The Maltese club will face Moldovan side Agarista CSF Anenii Noi 2020 in the semi-final on 30 July, marking their first-ever appearance in European competition. The match forms part of a four-team mini-tournament that also includes Spartak Myjava of Slovakia and ŽFK Budućnost of Montenegro.
The winners of each semi-final will meet in the group final, with the victorious team progressing to the next stage of the competition. The two losing teams will play in a third-place match.
Swieqi United’s qualification for Europe follows a strong domestic season and represents a significant milestone for women’s football in Malta. The club will now be looking to build on that success as they compete on the continental stage for the first time.
Group 2 fixtures will be played between 30 July and 2 August in Slovakia.
