Malta have learned their opponents for the opening qualifying rounds of the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Under 17 and Under 19 Championships following the draws held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The draws were conducted by David Gough, UEFA Head of Women’s Football Competitions, and David Balmer, UEFA Women’s National Team Competitions Manager.
In the UEFA Women’s Under 17 Championship, 50 national teams will compete across League A and League B. Malta were placed in Pot 2 of League B and drawn in Group B6 alongside Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The competition will be played in one venue mini tournaments, with the six group winners and the best runner up from League B earning promotion to League A for the second qualifying round. The hosts for the mini tournaments will be announced at a later stage, while all matches must be completed by 5 December 2026.
The draw for the UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championship followed shortly afterwards. A total of 52 teams will participate in the competition, with 28 teams in League A and 24 in League B.
Malta were placed in Pot 3 of League B and drawn in Group B6 together with Romania, Czechia and Kazakhstan.
As with the Under 17 competition, the six League B group winners and the best runner up will secure promotion to League A for the second round. Matches will be played during the FIFA Women’s International Match Calendar windows between 5 and 13 October 2026 or between 24 November and 5 December 2026, unless all teams in a group agree on alternative dates.
The draws have now set Malta’s route in both competitions as the national youth teams prepare for the upcoming qualifying campaigns.
