Arsenal have completed the permanent signing of Georgia Stanway following her departure from Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old midfielder will wear the No 4 shirt at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have completed the signing of England midfielder Georgia Stanway on a permanent deal following her departure from Bayern Munich.
The 27-year-old joins after her contract with the German champions expired at the end of last season, bringing an end to a four-year spell in which she helped the club win the Bundesliga title in every campaign. Prior to moving abroad, Stanway spent seven years at Manchester City, making 186 appearances and scoring 67 goals in the Women’s Super League, while winning one league title, three FA Cups and three League Cups.
During her time in Germany, she also lifted two German Cups and two German Super Cups, making 128 appearances and scoring 32 goals.
At international level, Stanway has been a key figure for England, scoring 33 goals in 93 caps and playing a significant role in their UEFA Women’s Euro successes in 2022 and 2025.
Speaking after her move, Stanway said she was proud to join Arsenal and eager to achieve more success.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal,” she said. “This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels and I want to be a part of it. Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers welcomed the signing, saying Stanway would bring added quality and versatility to the squad.
“Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player,” Slegers said. “She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign.”
