United snub Weghorst for permanent move: Kane, Martinez, and Osimhen on the radar

Manchester United’s search for a striker continues as they have reportedly decided against making Wout Weghorst’s loan move a permanent one.

Despite being a regular in Erik ten Hag’s side, the Dutch forward has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, managing only two goals and three assists in 20 appearances.

Anthony Martial’s return to fitness has also meant that Weghorst has been relegated to the bench in recent weeks, further diminishing his chances of a permanent move. Harry Kane remains the top target for the Red Devils, with Lautaro Martinez and Victor Osimhen also in the mix.

Weghorst’s future seems uncertain as Burnley, who will be playing in the Premier League next season, are open to letting him go, and Besiktas are believed to be interested in re-signing him. Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s transfer budget remains uncertain due to the ownership situation at Old Trafford.

Although Manchester United lost their recent Premier League match against Brighton, they remain on track for a return to the Champions League next season, sitting in fourth place in the table with a game in hand over fifth-placed Liverpool.
