ĦAMRUN S……..1
RFS……………….0
Ħamrun Spartans took an important step towards making history on Thursday night by beating RFS 1-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off round.
Ħamrun looked a bit cautious in the first half and made a few mistakes in defence, but they came out much stronger in the second half, attacking from the very start.
In the 55th minute, Ħamrun scored the only goal of the match. Joseph Mbong sent in a cross, and Saliou Thioune finished it off nicely with a first-time shot, sending the Ħamrun fans wild with joy.

After that, Ħamrun stayed focused and controlled most of the game. They pushed for a second goal but couldn’t score again before the final whistle from Armenian referee Ashot Ghaltakhchyan.
Ħamrun will now travel to Riga for the second leg at LNK Sporta Parks next Thursday, hoping to make history by becoming the first Maltese team to reach the group stage of a European competition.
