Floriana turned the match around at the Centenary Stadium with a 2-1 victory over Welsh side Haverfordwest County in their season opener.
The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute through a header by Ben Ahmun. However, Floriana drew level just three minutes before half-time, when Gamarra nodded in from a Varela cross.
The Greens dominated the second half and were rewarded in the 59th minute when Jake Grech calmly slotted home a penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Floriana the lead for the first time. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle with the Greens clinching a very good victory.
Floriana will now travel to Wales for the second leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying round tie, scheduled for Thursday, 17 July at Parc y Scarlets.
