Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid Football Club, has expressed his worries following their defeat by AC Milan at Santiago Bernabeu. This loss marks the second defeat for the team in their first four games of the Champions League this season.
In a press conference, Ancelotti stated, “We must be concerned as the team is not performing at its best.” Prior to this loss, Real Madrid was also humiliated by Barcelona in the La Liga El Clasico. The team is currently facing challenges and needs to improve. Ancelotti emphasized the importance of organization and compactness on the field, saying, “We have to work on being more organized and compact as we have been conceding a lot of goals.” Notably, Real Madrid, the reigning European champions, have only managed to secure six points in four games of the Champions League, including their defeat to Lille last month.
In the recent match against AC Milan, Malick Thiaw scored the opening goal, but Vinicius Junior equalized for Madrid with a penalty. However, goals from Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders led to a victory for Milan. The manager of AC Milan, Paulo Fonseca, praised his team’s performance, stating, “The players showed courage and played without fear.”
It has been a tough few weeks for Real Madrid, losing to Milan after their defeat in the El Clasico and having their match against Valencia postponed due to flooding in Spain. Before kick-off, both teams showed solidarity by wearing white T-shirts with the message “we are all Valencia” in Spanish and Italian.
According to Opta, Milan has made history by winning an away match against the reigning Champions League winners for the first time, breaking their previous record of three losses and one draw. On the other hand, Real Madrid has conceded three or more goals in consecutive matches for the first time since May 2009. Ancelotti has also lost two consecutive home games as manager of Real Madrid for the first time.
In the recent match, Real Madrid had 23 attempts with 10 shots on target, while Milan had nine shots on target out of 14 attempts. Real Madrid had 57% ball possession and a 93% passing accuracy from 511 passes. Both teams had three big chances each, and Milan made an impressive 24 clearances. In the points table, Milan is currently 18th out of 36 teams, while Real Madrid is 17th with a better goal difference. Both teams have six points from four matches this season.
