Real Madrid strike late to win 15th European Cup

Real Madrid secured their 15th European title, a record-breaking achievement, with a 2-0 triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.

Despite being the clear favorites, the Spanish team faced tough competition and were dominated for large portions of the match. However, they managed to break Dortmund’s resilience with two late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr. Carvajal, the experienced right back, headed in a goal from a Toni Kroos corner in the 74th minute, which ignited Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Then, in the 83rd minute, Vinicius slid in Real’s second goal, leaving the yellow-clad Dortmund fans, who had been creating an intense atmosphere throughout the final, stunned into silence. It was a harsh outcome for the German team, as they missed several good opportunities in the first half, with Niclas Fuellkrug hitting the post from close range being the best chance.
