Kylian Mbappé equalled Filippo Inzaghi’s mark for the most away hat-tricks in the UEFA Champions League, completing his third treble on the road in a commanding 5–0 win over Kairat Almaty.
Stung by Saturday’s 5–2 derby defeat to Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid travelled to Kazakhstan intent on a response and almost suffered an early shock when Dastan Satpayev found space from kick off, only to head tamely at Thibaut Courtois. The visitors soon settled. Vinícius Júnior darted in behind but prodded wide, before Mbappé put Madrid ahead from the spot after goalkeeper Sherhan Kalmurza clattered into Franco Mastantuono. He then combined slickly with Vinícius but slid a right-foot effort wide with the goal gaping. Kairat briefly believed they had a lifeline when the referee awarded a penalty, only for VAR to show Valeri Gromyko had slipped into Dani Ceballos.
Mbappé completed his hat trick moments later, drilling low with minimal backlift to match Inzaghi’s record. With Kairat reeling, Eduardo Camavinga nodded in his first Champions League goal and Brahim Díaz crashed in a fifth off the post to seal back-to-back European victories. Real Madrid march on with maximum points from their last two continental outings, while Kairat remain without a point in the league phase.
