Malta Champions Ħamrun Spartans will know their opponents of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League first qualifying round today when the draw will be held at 14:00 CET.
In total there are 28 teams involved n this draw with 14 teams being seeded. The matchdays of the first qualifying round have already beens et by UEFA for 9/10 and 16/17 July 2024. The official confirmed match dates and kick-off times will be announced by 21st June 2024.
Ħamrun can be paired with one of these teams: ŠK Slovan Bratislava (SVK), Lincoln Red Imps FC (GIB), The New Saints FC (WAL), FC Ballkani (KOS) or FK Borac Banja Luka (BIH).
How will the draw be held ?
Based on Articles 14 of the UEFA Champions League Regulations (UCL Regulations) the following draw procedure has been adopted by the Club Competitions Committee.
The qualifying phase and play-offs follow the knockout system, whereby each team plays each opponent twice, in home and away matches.
Draw system and conditions
A draw between the same number of seeded and unseeded clubs determines the ties for the qualifying phase and play-offs. Clubs are seeded for these draws in accordance with the club coefficient rankings established at the beginning of the season and with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee. If, for any reason, any of the participants in the round in question are not known at the time of the draw, the coefficient of the club with the higher coefficient of the two clubs involved in an undecided tie is used for the purposes of the draw.
The UEFA administration may form groups for the draw in accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.
A draw is conducted to determine the ties of each match and which team plays the first leg match at home.

The 28 teams are divided into two groups of ten teams (groups 1 to 2) and one group of eight teams (group 3).
Within each of the three groups, the teams are divided into an equal number of seeded and unseeded teams
