Arsenal’s inconsistent form persisted on Wednesday as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Despite the setback, manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with his team’s display, as they controlled the match against one of Europe’s elite teams.
Arsenal, with only two victories in their last six outings, maintained significant possession and managed 21 shots compared to Inter’s seven at the San Siro. The decisive goal was a contentious penalty awarded just before half-time. “The most disappointing aspect was the outcome, given our performance, attitude, and control against a top European side in this stadium,” Arteta remarked to journalists.
Currently fifth in the Premier League, Arsenal are set to visit fourth-placed Chelsea on Sunday. “If we play as we did, we’ll have a strong chance of defeating Chelsea. That’s our path forward,” Arteta stated.
The Spaniard also shared news about Kai Havertz’s injury, following a head collision that left the forward bleeding. “As for Kai… he has a significant cut. He had to be taken off as he required stitches, but we hope he’ll be fit for the weekend,” Arteta commented.
