Coventry City have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest in a deal reportedly worth £9 million.
The 29-year-old joins Frank Lampard’s side as Coventry prepare for their return to the Premier League. Their opening fixture will see them face reigning champions Arsenal on Friday.
Awoniyi leaves Nottingham Forest after four seasons at the club, scoring 23 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions. His opportunities were limited for much of last season, making the move to Coventry an opportunity for the forward to regain regular playing time.
The Nigerian international said he was excited about the move and looking forward to working with his new teammates.
Awoniyi also praised Coventry’s achievement in earning promotion from the Championship last season, describing the team as “incredible” and saying he was eager to become part of the squad.
