Strasbourg have reached an agreement with Werder Bremen for the transfer of highly rated German defender Karim Coulibaly, in a deal worth €20 million.
The 19-year-old centre-back is regarded as one of the promising young defenders in German football and has attracted significant interest after an impressive breakthrough season in the Bundesliga. Strasbourg, backed by the BlueCo ownership group that also controls Chelsea, see Coulibaly as a player with considerable potential for the future.
The agreement includes a sell-on clause, while the €20 million fee is understood to be fixed and does not include additional performance-related bonuses. The negotiations were handled by Roc Nation Sports and Nochi Hamasor.
Coulibaly enjoyed a notable 2025/26 campaign with Werder Bremen, making 27 Bundesliga appearances and scoring once. His goal also made him the youngest player to score for the club in Germany’s top flight.
The left-footed defender has represented Germany at youth international level and is now set to continue his development in France. His arrival represents another significant investment in young talent for Strasbourg as the club looks to build a squad capable of competing at a higher level.
Despite the €20 million transfer fee, Coulibaly’s current market valuation is reportedly even higher, at around €28 million, highlighting the expectations surrounding the teenager and his long-term potential.
