Andriy Shevchenko gets a new role: He is set to lead the Football Association

Celebrated Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko is the sole candidate for the presidency of the Football Association of Ukraine. He served as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team for five years and is now poised to lead the Football Association.

According to Italian media reports, the legendary Milan player, who became an advisor to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in September, is currently the only candidate for the presidency of the Football Association. The election for the head of this association is scheduled for January 25 next year.

Andriy Shevchenko, who was an assistant coach to Mykhaylo Fomenko from February to July 2016, took over the role and led the Ukrainian national team for 52 matches, including the UEFA Euro 2021. Ukraine reached the quarterfinals in the Euro 2021, losing to England. Following that, from November 2021 to January 2022, Shevchenko was the coach of Genoa.
