Vlahović’s Juventus return back on the table as wage demands remain a key obstacle

Dušan Vlahović could make a surprise return to Juventus despite leaving the Turin club on a free transfer, with head coach Luciano Spalletti reportedly open to bringing the Serbian striker back.

Vlahović has yet to secure a new club ahead of the 2026–27 season after the expiry of his Juventus contract. His limited options have reopened the possibility of a return, although any agreement would depend heavily on the forward reducing his financial demands.

Beşiktaş were among the first clubs to show serious interest and reportedly offered Vlahović a contract worth around €8 million net per season. However, the proposal did not fully satisfy the striker, while the Turkish side have since strengthened their attack by signing Leandro Trossard and exploring moves for Mohamed Salah and Mauro Icardi.

The lack of concrete interest from Europe’s leading clubs has complicated Vlahović’s position. Barcelona opted to pursue Julián Álvarez after Robert Lewandowski’s departure, while reported interest from Manchester United, Milan and Bayern Munich never developed into formal negotiations. A move to Saudi Arabia remains another possible option.

Vlahović’s priority is believed to be remaining in one of Europe’s five major leagues, but his salary expectations continue to restrict the market.

During previous renewal talks with Juventus, the striker reportedly lowered his request from €12 million to €8 million per season. Juventus were prepared to offer approximately €6 million plus bonuses, but negotiations collapsed over additional signing fees and commission demands.

According to the report, Vlahović’s father requested a gross commission worth around €30 million, a figure Juventus considered excessive and which contributed to the club ending negotiations.

Despite that breakdown, the door has not been completely closed. Spalletti has indicated that Vlahović could still be considered for a return, but only if the striker makes the first move and accepts significantly reduced terms.

The coming weeks will therefore be decisive. Vlahović must choose between lowering his demands to remain at the highest level in Europe, accepting one of the alternatives available abroad or attempting an unexpected return to Juventus
