AC Milan are preparing for a major clean sweep, both on and off the pitch, after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League following a disastrous end to an already disappointing campaign.
The Rossoneri’s 2-1 home defeat against Cagliari on the final day of the Serie A season proved to be the final blow, with the result seeing Milan slip to sixth place and miss out on Europe’s elite competition for the 2026/27 season.
Following the collapse, club owner Gerry Cardinale is now reportedly ready to completely restructure the sporting and executive setup at the club after a season that lacked consistency, identity and continuity from start to finish.
Despite entering the campaign with high expectations, Milan struggled to produce sustained performances throughout the season. The Rossoneri alternated between positive results and disappointing setbacks, never truly convincing either tactically or mentally over the course of the year.
Their inability to maintain consistency in key moments ultimately proved decisive, with Milan dropping crucial points against sides they were expected to overcome. The defeat to Cagliari at San Siro perfectly summed up a chaotic season in which the club repeatedly failed to respond under pressure.
Reports emerging from Italy indicate that chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, head scout Geoffrey Moncada and manager Massimiliano Allegri could all depart as part of a complete overhaul initiated by Cardinale.
Supporter frustration has also intensified dramatically. Members of the Curva Sud openly protested against the ownership and club hierarchy following the final whistle against Cagliari, with tensions around the club now reaching breaking point.
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimović is expected to take on an increasingly influential role within the club’s restructuring process as Milan attempt to rebuild ahead of next season.
