Lecce dismissed their coach, Luca Gotti, on Saturday following a series of poor performances that have left the team stuck in the Serie A relegation zone. Currently sitting in 18th place with nine points, Lecce managed a 1-1 draw at home against Empoli, who are in 10th place, on Friday. “Lecce announce that today Mr. Luca Gotti has been relieved of his duties as First Team coach,” stated Lecce’s announcement on their website.
The 57-year-old Gotti, who previously managed Udinese and Spezia, took over the role in March, replacing Roberto D’Aversa when Lecce were just one point clear of the relegation zone. They ended last season in 14th position.
