Lazio have issued a formal statement rejecting rumours that the club is in negotiations with foreign investors, including Qatari funds, to sell stakes in the Serie A side.
“No offer, expression of interest or proposal, formal or informal, has ever been received from Qatari funds or from any other party, in Italy or abroad,” the note read. “Such information is totally false, unfounded and constructed with the sole aim of destabilising the club, the supporters and the stock listed on the exchange.”
The club said it has filed reports with the relevant financial and judicial authorities to trace the origin of the claims and hold those responsible to account, warning media and social channels against spreading “invented” news that could harm Lazio’s reputation and the orderly performance of its listed shares.
Lazio added that it would continue to operate “with its customary seriousness, solidity and transparency,” pursuing sporting and corporate objectives “in full compliance with the regulations in force and in the interests of its shareholders,” stressing there is no need for any restructuring and that the plan remains one of growth and development.
