The Serie A title race is still open after AC Milan beat Inter 1–0 in the Derby della Madonnina. This means Milan have beaten their city rivals twice in the league this season for the first time since the 2010/11 campaign. It was also Inter’s first league defeat since the reverse derby in November.
Milan nearly scored early in the match. After a mistake by Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, Christian Pulisic won the ball and passed to Luka Modrić, but the Croatian’s shot from outside the box went just wide. Inter did not create many chances in the first half, with Federico Dimarco having two attempts that failed to trouble Milan.
Inter had a good chance when Henrikh Mkhitaryan ran through the Milan defence and into the box, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
A minute later, Milan scored the winning goal. Youssouf Fofana played a pass to Pervis Estupiñán, who struck the ball powerfully into the top of the net.
Before half-time, Milan tried to score again with chances from Alexis Saelemaekers and Adrien Rabiot, while Inter’s Nicolò Barella also had a shot that went wide.

Inter started the second half strongly and tried to find an equaliser. Piotr Zieliński forced Maignan to make a save, and later Dimarco missed a good chance from close range.
Milan also had chances to score again. Rafael Leão sent a shot across goal, while Fofana forced Sommer into a difficult save.
Late in the match, Inter pushed forward looking for a goal, but they could not create a clear chance. Two penalty appeals were also rejected by the referee.
With this result, the gap between the top two teams in Serie A is now seven points with 10 matches remaining. Milan recorded their sixth win in 11 league games, while Inter’s eight-match winning run in Serie A came to an end.
