Udinese secured an impressive 2-0 victory away at Cagliari, extending their unbeaten away run to five matches and moving them into the top half of the Serie A table.
Cagliari actually started the brighter of the two sides, with Gianluca Gaetano, Michael Folorunsho, Marco Palestra and Sebastiano Esposito all going close in the first half. Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was called into action on a couple of occasions to keep things level.
Cagliari also had a penalty awarded in their favour after Jesper Karlström was adjudged to have handled the ball, but the referee overturned the decision following a VAR review. Udinese’s only real first-half effort came from Jakub Piotrowski, whose long-range strike was saved by Elia Caprile.

The deadlock was broken ten minutes into the second half when Oumar Solet played a perfectly timed through ball to Hassane Kamara, whose cross was turned in from close range by Adam Buksa. Cagliari pushed hard for an equaliser and came agonisingly close on two occasions, with Alberto Dossena’s header cleared off the line by Karlström and Paul Mendy’s point-blank effort blocked by Nicolò Bertola.
Udinese wrapped things up deep into stoppage time when Keinan Davis, having been denied by Caprile moments earlier, turned provider for Idrissa Gueye to finish off a counter-attack and seal the win. Cagliari remain close to safety but could now drop to 16th if Fiorentina pick up a result.
