Atalanta came from behind to beat AC Milan 3-2 at the San Siro on Sunday evening, dealing a significant blow to the Rossoneri’s hopes of finishing in the top four.
Milan actually had the better of the early exchanges, with Adrien Rabiot striking the post, but it was Atalanta who drew first blood. Ederson pounced on a loose ball inside the box to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute, and Davide Zappacosta doubled the lead on the half hour after a neat lay off from Nikola Krstovic. Marco Carnesecchi then did well to keep out Rafael Leao as Milan searched for a way back into the game.
Atalanta put the match to bed early in the second half when Giacomo Raspadori fired into the top corner to make it 3-0, and Carnesecchi continued to impress between the posts, denying Christopher Nkunku as Milan pressed for a consolation.
The hosts did eventually pull two goals back in the closing stages, with Strahinja Pavlovic heading in from a free kick in the 88th minute before Nkunku converted a penalty in stoppage time. A nervy finish followed, but Atalanta held on to take all three points.

It was a third away win in nine league games for Atalanta, while Milan are left sweating over their Champions League qualification hopes.
