AC Milan coach Sergio Conceição expressed frustration over his side’s recurring mistakes after a 2-2 home draw against Fiorentina in Serie A on Saturday, a result that further dents their hopes of a top-four finish.
The Rossoneri made a disastrous start, conceding twice within the first 10 minutes. Malick Thiaw put the ball into his own net before Moise Kean doubled the visitors’ lead with a precise first-time finish. Despite fighting back with goals from Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic to rescue a point, Conceição was left unimpressed.

“There are some individual errors, but not only in defence,” Conceição told Sky Sport Italia. “I think the team made errors that were not forced by the opponent. These are behaviours you learn as a kid in football school — we’re still working on improving them.”
The Portuguese coach also bemoaned the team’s inefficiency in front of goal. “We miss a lot of chances. We have to find a balance, because we create a lot. The approach was bad — it was not what we prepared.”
Milan now find themselves ninth in the Serie A table with 48 points, having earned just seven points from their last seven games. They trail eighth-placed Fiorentina by four points and are eight behind fourth-placed Bologna, who still have a game in hand.

Despite their league struggles, Milan showed signs of life midweek by drawing 1-1 against Inter Milan in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final. Conceição highlighted the contrast in performances. “In the game against Inter, the approach was different. For 90 minutes we were balanced. The lads have given me some good signs in these three days.”

With Champions League qualification now looking unlikely through Serie A, Milan may need to focus their efforts on the Coppa Italia. Winning the domestic cup could offer them a path to the Europa League and some consolation for an otherwise inconsistent season.
