Serbian football players defeated Sweden away with a minimum score of 1: 0 in the third round of the “B” division of the League of Nations, and thus remained in the race for first place in the table.
Coach Dragan Stojkovic Piksi shuffled the cards before the duel with the Scandinavians. Young Aleksa Terzic got a chance from the first minute, while Luka Jovic was the most advanced, and Filip Đuricic was in the front line of the midfield along with Tadic. Dmitrovic started on goal instead of Rajkovic.
Serbian national team entered the match better with greater initiative, and already in the eighth minute they had a chance to gain an advantage. First, Tadic hired Terzic on the opposite side from the left. The young defender tried to catch a volley, but he was not precise. Fortunately, the ball returned to the captain, who lost to Lazovic, but Sweden defended.
Immediately after that, Lazovic tried to find Jovic, but Ekdal reacted well in front of our attacker. Serbia attacked well, but Sweden managed to resist the attacks. In the first 15 minutes, the Eagles had much more ball in their legs compared to the rival (61:39).
Serbia had the initiative, but no attack was good enough to endanger Olsen’s goal. He played in the 33rd minute, when after the combination of Milinković-Savic and Tadic, Jovic had a chance, he shot from ten meters but was blocked.
In the 43rd minute, Jovic passed excellently on the flank and was fouled on the edge of the penalty area. Tadic centered well, but Milenkovic did not manage to catch the ball with his head. However, on the other hand, there was almost no punishment. At the end of the 45th minute, Klason was in a great position to shoot, but his shot ended up next to the goal.
The Eagles still managed to take the lead. It was a “cold shower” for the Swedes before half-time. The second minute of the compensation of the first half was played, when Jovic, after Tadic’s cross-shot and Pavlovic’s pass, beat the goalkeeper of the home team for the lead of Serbia 1: 0.
