Scott McTominay is set to undergo a heart procedure after Napoli confirmed that the midfielder has been diagnosed with a mild and benign heart rhythm problem. The 29-year-old Scottish international will have a cardiac ablation procedure in the coming days to correct the irregular heartbeat.
Napoli have confirmed that the condition is not considered serious, and the procedure is not expected to affect McTominay’s football career in the long term. He is expected to return to action after the upcoming international break.
The procedure means McTominay will spend a period on the sidelines and will miss several important matches for Napoli, as well as Scotland’s upcoming international fixtures. His absence will be a setback for both his club and national team, as he has become an important player since joining Napoli from Manchester United in 2024.
McTominay previously spent several years at Manchester United, making 255 appearances and scoring 29 goals before moving to Napoli. Since arriving in Italy, he has established himself as a key player and has enjoyed considerable success with the club.
