RONALDO ON THE PURCHASE OF VALLADOLID: All my money is in the club, for now I have 70% of shares

Luis Nazario de Lima, or Brazilian, “original” or “real” Ronaldo, has become the majority owner of Real Valladolid since 2018.

In the Brazilian Flow Podcast, he talked about the period in which he was trying to buy a football club and negotiations with the American MLS, and he also revealed that he had invested practically all his money in Valladolid.

“I was in a meeting with the president of MLS, who told me that, despite all my trophies, I can’t do anything if I don’t intend to set aside 70 million euros for the franchise. That turned me away from the project in the USA “, said Ronaldo, the failed attempt to acquire the club in America.

During the World Cup in Russia, he inquired in numerous conversations about buying a club in Europe.

“I asked a lot, I looked towards the English Championship (second league in strength), but everything was very expensive. Then I started looking in Portugal and Spain, where the prices are more affordable, but I didn’t like anything, ” said Ronaldo.

Finally, a call came from a lawyer who explained to him the possibility of buying Real Valladolid.

“I thought Valladolid was only an hour and a half away from Madrid and had a history. I bought it for 30 million euros, but the club had debts of 25 million and only two players in the squad, all the others were on loan “, said Ronaldo.

He then bought 51% of the shares, enough to be considered the majority owner, and so far he has increased his ownership stake to over 70%.
