Real Madrid monitoring Rodri situation at Manchester City

Real Madrid have emerged as serious admirers of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, with the Spain international reportedly open to the possibility of returning to his homeland.

City have been aware throughout the summer that Rodri’s future could become a major talking point, and fresh interest from Madrid has intensified speculation surrounding the midfielder’s next move.

Although Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez had previously been uncertain about pursuing the deal while searching for a long-term midfield solution, Rodri’s outstanding performances at the World Cup may have changed the club’s perspective. His influential displays on the biggest stage appear to have strengthened the belief among key figures at Madrid that he would be an ideal addition to their squad.

At present, Real Madrid have not made any official approach to Manchester City, but the situation is being closely monitored.

Manchester City are already preparing for different scenarios regarding Rodri’s future. The club had anticipated that interest would increase following the World Cup, particularly if Spain enjoyed a successful tournament — something that happened as they went on to lift the trophy, with Rodri earning the Player of the Tournament award.

The 30-year-old midfielder has further enhanced his reputation as one of the finest players in world football, but uncertainty remains over his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium. Rodri is entering the final year of his current contract and has yet to show significant interest in the renewal offer presented by Manchester City.

While the midfielder is aware of the terms City are willing to offer, talks have failed to make substantial progress as he waits to see whether Madrid will make their interest official.

Should Rodri eventually leave, Manchester City have already begun exploring potential replacements. Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández is reportedly among manager Enzo Maresca’s preferred targets, while Lille’s highly rated teenage midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is also being considered as a possible long-term option.

For now, Rodri remains a Manchester City player, but with Real Madrid watching closely and contract talks at a standstill, his future is expected to remain one of the major transfer stories to follow.
