Mauricio Pochettino, the former coach of Paris Saint-Germain, compared the way of working of the club where he was once the head of the coaching staff and Manchester City.
“There are clubs like Liverpool or Manchester City, which have long-term projects and give people a chance to realize them. I will always make such comparisons. We at PSG won the French championship with 15 points more than the second, but when we were eliminated by Real Madrid we knew there would be problems”, said Pochettino, then continued:
“City also lost against Real, they conceded three goals in five minutes, and the following week they bought Holland. He gave his coach a chance for a new attempt, to find solutions and win the English championship, just as we took the trophy in France,” he added.
He also pointed out that there is much more pressure with the Parisians compared to Tottenham and Southampton where he was a coach.
“The projects are different. While in City they trust the same coach for seven years, in PSG they expect you to win the cup as soon as you arrive. And that of the Champions League, not the domestic championship. It is different and I have accepted it. What I am saying now is not a criticism. When we came to Paris, we knew that we had to try to win the Champions League if we wanted to continue working on our project,” said Pochettino.
