This situation is similar to when Barcelona fans threw a pig’s head onto the pitch during a game against Real Madrid in 2002. The police are currently investigating the incident, and two fans were briefly detained before being released.

In 1986, Palmeiras fans adopted the pig as their mascot, in response to rival fans chanting insults at them. The incident was captured in a picture published by sports magazine Placar, featuring Palmeiras player Jorginho Putinatti holding a pig.
