No Anticipated January Move for Mohamed Salah to Saudi Pro League, says Director of Football

Michael Emenalo, the director of football for the Saudi Pro League, has expressed that he does not foresee Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah making a move to the league in January. Despite earlier reports suggesting interest from Al-Ittihad and a potential £150m deal, Emenalo emphasized the league’s respect for Liverpool and Salah’s contentment at the historic club.

Salah’s current contract with Liverpool runs until 2025, making him a valuable asset for the club. While there have been speculations about potential offers for the Egyptian forward, Emenalo assured that any interest from their end would be handled with respect and without pressuring Salah.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Emenalo stated, “Mo Salah, like [Lionel] Messi, [Karim] Benzema, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, these are players that, when there is a sense of availability for them, we are willing to listen.” However, he highlighted the league’s understanding of Salah’s happiness at Liverpool and their reluctance to initiate a prolonged transfer saga.

“We respect Liverpool, and in this scenario, the initiative to do anything won’t come from us,” added Emenalo.

Salah has been a key figure for Liverpool, contributing 11 goals and seven assists in 16 starts. With Liverpool currently leading the Premier League standings, it is expected that the club will reiterate Salah’s non-availability for sale during the upcoming transfer window.
