The captain of the Croatian national team, Luka Modric, after securing a place in the European Championship, points out that better games can be expected from the “fiery” ones in Germany.
Croatia defeated Armenia with a score of 1:0 and thus reached the sixth consecutive European Championship.
Although Wales started the match against Turkey well, Croatia did not allow a surprise and sent Wales to the knockout phase.
“We knew at halftime that Wales was leading, but in the second half we didn’t know the result, we were concentrating on the game. It was important that we do our job,” said Modric.
Zlatko Dalic’s team could have been stronger for Mateo Kovacic and Ivan Perisic at the upcoming European Championship.
“For me, the group we are in plays the smallest role, it is important that we are in the Euro. I believe we will be right there. There are many things we have to correct. I am not satisfied with many things, but I believe that it will be better when the players who fail come back. Above all, I’m thinking of Mateo (Kovačić) and Perija (Ivan Perišić), who I hope will return on time and prepare properly. There will be time for preparation, if we want to play an important role, we have to do better”, said Modrić.
