SILVA IS NOT HAPPY: I'm not saying that Serbia didn't protect Mitrovic, but...

Serbia defeated Sweden and Norway and secured its place in the elite repertoire of the League of Nations, as well as a great atmosphere before the World Cup.

However, the collateral damage was great, the head of the best scorer of Serbia and Fulham, Aleksandra Mitrovic.

The Serbian goalscorer played against Sweden despite the pain he felt before the match, and later of course he started for Fulham in the Premier League, but he could not play the full 90 minutes and now faces a race against time before the competition in Qatar.

He expects Mitrovic to be ready for the World Cup, but the London team will not be able to count on him in the following games, and Fulham’s coach, Marco Silva, expressed his dissatisfaction today.

We support the players in everything they do and we know how important it is for them to play for their national teams. For Serbia specifically, those were two important games and we are very proud of Mitrovic and what he did with his national team – began Silva:

– Again, we are also looking for protection. We need to protect them because we need them to do the same on other levels. I’m not saying that Serbia didn’t protect Mitrovic, but now we have to deal with the situation as it is and it frustrates us a lot, especially since the injury happened during the national team break – says Silva.

The Fulham coach revealed that he closely followed Mitrovic’s situation in the Serbian national team and that he was in contact with the doctors.

– Of course, we were not in Serbia so we could not see everyone, but we were in contact with the doctors all the time and we received feedback that Mitrović is able to play (against Norway). We also spoke with him, he confirmed the same. The whole situation is not that serious, but we need to get him back to optimal form as soon as possible – revealed the coach of Fulham.
