Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic apologized, after returning from the international break, for his behavior in the FA Cup quarter-final match against Manchester United (3:1).
Mitrovic was sent off for that match due to unsportsmanlike behavior towards referee Chris Kavanagh.
“I am sorry for the actions that led to the expulsion. I let my frustration get the better of me. The way I reacted was wrong. I was trying to get the referee’s attention, however, I shouldn’t have put my hands on him and that’s why I understand why he showed me the red card,” Mitrovic said.
It is still not known how long Mitrovic will be suspended.
“I would accept a three-match suspension. I also spoke with Judge Kavanagh, I apologized to him. Voluntarily just accepted the punishment. Now I want to do everything in my power to forget the incident and return to the field as soon as possible to help my teammates. In the meantime, I still regret the incident. I have already apologized to my teammates, I want to apologize to the fans as well, especially those who traveled to Old Trafford and cheered us on the whole game,” said the Serbian striker.
