The Malta Football Association have responded to the complaints from Valletta FC and Gżira United, standing firm on their decision to keep the Meridianbet FA Trophy semi-finals on their original dates.
The MFA point out that the competition calendar, including the semi-final dates, was published back in August 2025 and has been available to all clubs ever since. They say that following the postponement requests from both clubs, they did hold discussions with all parties involved and gave them the chance to come to a mutual agreement, but no such agreement could be reached.

The Association say it is their established practice to only consider changing a fixture if all clubs involved are in agreement, and since that was not the case here, the semi-finals will go ahead as planned. They add that they remain committed to transparency, fairness and the proper application of their regulations across all competitions.
