Former football player of Barcelona and Liverpool, Javier Mascherano, has been appointed as the new coach of the young football team of Argentina, their football association announced.
His duty at this position will begin in January 2022.
He will replace Fernando Batista, who joined Jose Pekerman in the new professional staff of the Venezuelan national team.
Mascherano spent his best years during his playing career in Barcelona, for which he played between 2010 and 2018 and with which he won a total of 19 trophies, including five Primera titles and two Champions Leagues.
He started his career at River Plate and also played for Corinthians, West Ham and Liverpool, and he played in four World Cups with the Argentine national team.
He finished his career as a football player in 2020.
