Manchester United face Arsenal in FA Cup Third Round

Defending champions Manchester United have been drawn away to 14-time winners Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.

Premier League leaders Liverpool will host League Two side Accrington Stanley, while Manchester City will welcome Salford City, owned by the ‘Class of 92’.

Tamworth, one of only two non-league clubs left in the competition, will play at home against Tottenham.

The third-round ties are set for the weekend of Saturday, 11 January.

This round sees the 44 Premier League and Championship clubs join the 20 lower-league and non-league sides that progressed from last weekend’s second-round matches.

There were audible groans from Manchester United supporters at Old Trafford as they were drawn against Arsenal, with United having won the trophy for a 13th time in May after defeating rivals Manchester City.

Salford City is owned by former Manchester United players Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, and David Beckham.

Tamworth, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, will host Spurs after their penalty shootout win against League One side Burton Albion, while fellow National League team Dagenham & Redbridge will travel to Championship side Millwall.

Everton full-back Ashley Young, 39, could face his 18-year-old son Tyler, as the Toffees were drawn to play Peterborough at home. “Wow…dreams might come true,” the former England international wrote on X.

Elsewhere, Chelsea will host League Two’s bottom club Morecambe, while Bromley, another fourth-tier struggler, will travel to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
