Malta’s women’s national team clinched their second victory in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, defeating Moldova 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium.
Coach Manuela Tesse started the game with Haley Bugeja leading the attack while Alishia Sultana returned to the national team.
Malta started on the offensive, with Alisdhia Sultana having a shot saved in the first two minutes, followed by another chance for the Maltese.
In the 41st minute, Janice Xuereb made a crucial save to deny Carolina Tabur, ensuring that the first half ended goalless. Ylenia Carabott had a golden opportunity but her shot went just wide.
Early in the second half, Malta opened the scoring as Brenda Borg provided a precise pass to Inter’s Haley Bugeja, who advanced and slotted the ball past Bojenco. Bugeja doubled her tally in the 58th minute with another well-taken goal.
The Maltese team maintained control throughout the match, securing their second win in the UEFA Women’s Nations League Group C1 under the guidance of Italian coach Manuela Tesse.
The victory cemented Malta’s position in the group, with Haley Bugeja shining as a standout player in the squad.
