Exclusive: Teddy Teuma close to joining Sliema Wanderers

In an exclusive story broken by Malta Sport earlier today, Malta international midfielder Teddy Teuma is understood to be close to joining Sliema Wanderers.

The 32-year-old is currently without a club, and talks with the Wanderers are believed to be at an advanced stage, although no official announcement has yet been made.

Should the move be completed, it would represent one of the most significant transfers in recent Maltese football. Teuma would bring leadership, creativity and considerable international experience to Sliema’s midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.

The left-footed midfielder can operate in several central roles and has long been one of Malta’s most influential players at international level.

Teuma built much of his reputation in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise, where he became captain and played a key role in the club’s rise. He later continued his career in France and Belgium before becoming available as a free agent.

Sliema have been active in reshaping their project under new president Walter Arciola and experienced coach Branko Nišević.

The possible arrival of Teuma would underline the club’s ambition and give Nišević a proven midfielder capable of controlling matches, creating chances and contributing from set-pieces.

Negotiations remain ongoing, but Malta Sport understands that Teuma is now moving closer to a switch to Sliema Wanderers.
