Sliema Wanderers have unveiled a proposed long-term partnership aimed at strengthening the club’s sporting ambitions, facilities and financial sustainability.
The agreement was announced during a press conference after the club signed a memorandum of understanding with Betsson, outlining both parties’ intention to finalise a wider commercial partnership.
Under the proposed deal, the company is expected to become Sliema Wanderers’ front-of-shirt sponsor from the upcoming season, while also supporting the club’s continued investment in its football operations and infrastructure.
The partnership forms part of the new committee’s broader plan to establish a more sustainable operating model and create stronger foundations for long-term success.

Sliema are among the limited number of Maltese clubs that own premises capable of being developed and commercialised. The club intends to invest further in those facilities while creating additional recurring revenue streams to support its sporting project.
Club president Walter Arciola described the memorandum as an important vote of confidence in the direction being taken by the Wanderers.
“Our objective is not simply to achieve success on the pitch,” Arciola said. “We want to build an institution that is financially sustainable, supported by high-quality facilities and positioned to compete successfully over the long term.”
He added that the proposed partner had understood the club’s vision from the beginning and expressed confidence that the collaboration could support Sliema’s future development.
The company’s chief executive Jesper Svensson said the partnership would go beyond a traditional sponsorship agreement, with the focus also placed on infrastructure and long-term sustainability.
The announcement came during a period of major activity at the club under its new leadership.

Sliema also used the event to present Malta international Teddy Teuma as their latest signing, following the recent arrivals of fellow internationals Alexander Satariano and Henry Bonello.

Those additions underline the Wanderers’ intention to combine immediate improvement on the pitch with a wider long-term strategy off it.
The memorandum remains subject to the completion of a final agreement, with the front-of-shirt sponsorship expected to begin during the upcoming football season.
