Sliema Wanderers are continuing to make waves in the transfer market, with Matteo Lorenzi set to become the latest addition to the Blues’ increasingly ambitious squad.
Lorenzi, a 21-year-old Portuguese defensive midfielder, is currently on the books of SC Farense U23. The 1.90m midfielder was born in Portimão on 23 March 2005 and has featured extensively at Under-23 level in Portugal.
The move would represent another statement of intent from Sliema, who have been particularly active in strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Lorenzi has been part of the Farense U23 set-up since 2024 and has accumulated 56 appearances for the side.
His profile offers Sliema a physically imposing option in midfield, with his 1.90m frame and preference for his right foot making him an interesting addition to the Blues’ midfield department.
The arrival would further underline Sliema’s ambitious approach to the summer market, with the club seemingly determined to build a squad capable of competing at the top end of Maltese football.
MaltaSport understands that Lorenzi is on his way to Sliema, with the transfer expected to be confirmed once the formalities are completed.
