Marsaxlokk have completed the signing of Ukrainian defender Oleksiy Bykov ahead of the new season.
The 28-year-old centre-back arrives with extensive experience across several European leagues and is expected to add quality and leadership to the Marsaxlokk backline.
Bykov primarily operates as a central defender but is also capable of playing at left-back. The left-footed defender spent the 2025/26 season with Polish side Chojniczanka Chojnice, making over 30 appearances in all competitions.
Throughout his career, Bykov has represented a number of clubs including FC Mariupol, Zagłębie Sosnowiec, Lokomotiv Plovdiv and KA Akureyri. He also came through the youth ranks of Shakhtar Donetsk before beginning his senior career in Ukraine.

At international level, Bykov earned nine caps for Ukraine’s Under-21 national team.
Marsaxlokk will be hoping that the experienced defender can make an immediate impact as the club prepares for the challenges of the upcoming campaign with thier first commitments will be in the UEFA Conference League.
