Marsaxlokk FC have filed a protest with the Malta Football Association regarding the decisive goal scored in the Finalissima against Floriana FC.
The protest is based on the club’s position that the goal in question should be invalid, as it breaches the application of the Laws of the Game, particularly regarding Law 15 of the IFAB.

Various footage available to the club and viewed by MFA officials clearly shows that the goal in extra time originated directly from a throw-in, which goes against IFAB Law 15, which states: “A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in: if the ball enters the opponents’ goal, a goal kick is awarded.”
Marsaxlokk FC regrets that this incident will decide a championship that should be determined by sporting merit and in full respect of the fundamental rules of the game.
Marsaxlokk FC in a press statement said it was thanking its supporters for their continued support throughout this historic season and appeals for any discussion on the matter to remain calm and respectful.
